Color Me {New Beginnings}
Well friends, it's Monday, meaning it's time for my big announcement. Events Uncorked is getting a makeover! I'm so excited for this next step in growing this little blog. Like anything, the only way to improve and do better is to constantly reach beyond your comfort zone. That's what I'm doing here. Over the next couple of months, I'm going to step back from blogging to concentrate on building the new site, creating exciting fun content, and overall taking Events Uncorked in the direction it needs to be going.
Over the past couple of years, I've throughly enjoyed sharing ideas and inspiration with you all everyday. But, I've struggled to really find my niche and produce quality posts continuously. The good news is, I've finally found the true direction I want to take this blog in. The bad news is, that means taking a few months away to focus in on the ideas and really develop this into something I'm proud of.
I shared with you on Friday five of my favorite blogs. These are the ones I check almost daily for that source of creative inspiration. I want this site to be just that for you. The new Events Uncorked will focus on home entertaining, creating realistic events that you don't have to have a big budget and a lot of time to execute. It will show you that throwing a fabulous party at home doesn't have to be stressful and overwhelming. While I do plan events for a living, my favorite parties to throw are those hosted in the comfort of my own home.
I'll be sure to share sneak peeks of my progress throughout the process, and if you have any thoughts on what you would love to see on the new site, let me know right here! Also, be sure to follow me on Pinterest and Twitter for all the latest updates.
Caio for now and I'll see you all on the new site June 2nd!

Color Me {Confetti}
Hello Monday! Usually I'm not a fan of the day, but today is my birthday making it a completely different story. And what screams birthday more than a room full of confetti. I'm talking confetti in envelopes, confetti covered tables, confetti balloons, the whole nine yards. While you can have a party without confetti, it really just makes it better. I'm off now to spend the day celebrating but I will catch you back here tomorrow morning for an ingenious use of mason jar lids.
Have a celebratory Monday!

Color Me {Garnet}
Today is all about superstition. My dear Seminoles are playing for the National Championship tonight and I'm such a nervous wreck that I'm doing everything I can in hopes to not "mess it up" per se. It seems a little silly I know, but I can't help it. Not only is garnet the color of my beloved Noles, but it's a beautiful rich shade for winter affairs. It pairs nicely with soft neutrals and bold metallics allowing it to be easily incorporated into the color scheme for any type of get together. Plus it really warms up a space on a cold winter's night!

Color Me {Pop Fizz Clink}
Happy almost New Year. With Christmas behind us, it's time to get those New Year's plans in order. Start writing down your resolutions and gathering up the bottles of champagne. It's time to remember the great memories of 2013 but starting looking towards all the fun of 2014. Whether 2013 was a good year for you (hopefully it was!) or not, it must come to an end. And what better way to end one chapter and begin another than with an over the top soiree. Bring out the glitz and glam with a classic color scheme of black, silver and gold. Add glitter to whatever you can and most importantly remember to pop open a bottle of bubbly in celebration!
What are your plans for the New Year?

Color Me {Merry & Bright}
Well, we are down to the wire. Christmas is only two days away. It's time to start baking up cookies for Santa and getting ready for a joyous holiday celebration. We are off today to see family all over the state for the next two weeks and I'm excited to spend some time away and celebrate with those that mean the most to us. It's hard for me to not be in a good mood this time of year and I wanted to translate that into today's inspiration. Much like my mood, this board is filled with all things merry and bright. To some Christmas may mean red and green, but sometimes it's nice to mix it up. Who's to say you can't have a holiday filled with all the colors of the rainbow? Pinks, turquoises, and greens sure fill the room with joy unlike any combination I've seen before. If this doesn't put a smile on your face there may just be something wrong!
I hope you all have a Merry Monday! What are your plans for the holidays?

Color Me {Coastal Christmas}
While a white Christmas sounds lovely, the only kind of Christmas for me is a coastal Christmas. I'm the kind of person who gets cold when temperatures drop below 70, the kind of person who can't imagine having to scrape ice off my windshield in the morning, the kind of person who doesn't really own a "coat", and I prefer to keep it that way. A coastal Christmas means starfish tree toppers and more aqua than red and green.
It's no secret I'm a beach fanatic. For now though, we are living in a landlocked city meaning I have to bring the beach to me. Even if you don't live near the coast you can create a coastal Christmas wherever you are. Keep the color scheme light and bright with beige, silver and shades of blue. Create homemade ornaments out of starfish and skirt the tree with loose burlap. I'll share my coastal Christmas details with you later in the week, but here's a little inspiration board to get you started!
Have a great Monday!

Color Me {Traditional Christmas}
We get to that point every year where the conversation shifts from summer vacations and weekend road trips to Christmas traditions and holiday decor. Like many, the first thing that pops into my head are thoughts of traditional touches like deep red and hunter green plaid topping a table filled with homemade cookies and festive cocktails. Combine that with a roaring fire, mugs of hot cocoa and a blanket of fresh snow outside and you have the picture perfect traditional Christmas. While some of us live in areas where this is far from reality, there are ways to create the "traditional" Christmas no matter the circumstances. All you need is a bright holiday spirit and a sea of red and green decor to create that unmistakable Christmas feel!

Color Me {Winter White}
It's finally starting to look like winter around here. The past few days have been filled with gray skies and colder temperatures making me feel like Christmas is right around the corner. As I do every December, I've put together some holiday theme boards that will take us right up to the celebratory day. No matter if you prefer a traditional holiday, a coastal Christmas or a winter white one like today, I'll have all the holiday cheer you need right here.
Being in Florida, the closest thing we get to a white Christmas is sandy white beaches and a decked out Palm tree, but that can't stop a girl from dreaming right? Even if you don't live in the snowy white North, you can still create the perfect white Christmas. Adorn the tree in soft shades of white with silver accents and keep the rest of your decor neutral. Apply this theory to your holiday table as well. An ivory tablecloth topped with white plates and silver decor is just what you need to make it perfect. All that is left is to light a fire and curl up with a mug of hot chocolate!

Color Me {Pumpkin}
Thanksgiving is coming up this Thursday and I couldn't be more excited for one thing. The pumpkin pie! To me this is what Thanksgiving is all about…besides family and friends of course! I would (and will) consume pumpkin pie for dessert and breakfast, lunch, and dinner the next day. There is no other time of the year where this is acceptable, making Thursday (and Friday) absolutely perfect! But I don't just love pumpkin pie for the taste, but the color! It's a great harvest color that is ideal for decorating your Thanksgiving table. Accent colorful red and gold blooms with mini pumpkins and orange touches. It's also a great color to bring new neutrals like silver and navy to the next level.
Tell me, what will you decorate your Thanksgiving table with this year?

Color Me {Botanical Grace}
There is something so refreshing about surrounding yourself with natural elements. While vibrant colors and bold patterns have their place, botanical touches are certainly much nicer to me. They give off an ever lasting classic feel with the right balance of elegance and modern trend. The versatility can't be ignored either. Whether used in varying sizes as a neutral chic centerpiece or placed strategically around the room to create an outdoor feel, emerald colored botanicals are the perfect addition to your celebration's decor.
Have a great Monday!

Color Me {Cranberry}
Every Thanksgiving the table gets set with golden brown roasted turkey, bright orange yams, gorgeous green brussel sprouts, and an unappetizing lump of cranberry sauce. While the look of the sauce is not that appealing, the color is quite perfect for the season. The brightness of the deep red truly sets the holiday feel of the day and compliments the natural rustic tones of the season. The perfect holiday table for me would be last week’s shade of wheat mixed with the cheery cranberry and neutral navy. The combination could start with your Thanksgiving table and carry through the holiday season by adding in appropriate tones of hunter green. Add in a few metallic tones and you will be set for the season!

Color Me {Wheat Fields}
Now that Halloween has past, I officially consider it to be the holiday season. Thanksgiving will be here in a few short weeks and Christmas is right around the corner. It really is hard to believe but it's even harder to contain my excitement. As we move closer and closer to Thanksgiving, the more and more planning appropriate decor becomes an everyday item on my to-do list. While I love incorporating small pumpkins and gourds into the table scape, this year I plan on using more wheat elements for a natural touch. The color is neutral and basic allowing the texture to really take center stage, something that a lot of table scapes lack. So, whether you use it in it's given form or simply use it for color inspiration, wheat is a great addition to any Thanksgiving table.

Color Me {Halloween Horror}
Happy Monday dolls. I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. Halloween is coming up this week and we spent the weekend getting in the spirit from decorating the front of the house to finally buying our pumpkin. All in all it was a pretty spirited couple of days that has me really excited to see all the trick-or-treaters on Thursday. To continue the holiday fun into the week, I put together a little board of spooky inspiration. Full of dark and doomy black with splashes of orange, this board is enough to inspired costumes and last minute bashes alike. Whether you've had your plans for months or are just now making them, I hope you have a scare-tastic week!

Color Me {In the Navy}
Without fail, I would chose a neutral over color every time. If you were to give me the option between a bright shade of pink and a dark neutral, the later would win hands down. To me, there is nothing more beautiful than pairing a dark neutral with bold accents like colorful statement blooms or metallic touches. But above all neutrals, navy takes the cake. It's not quite as bland as your basic black and definitely has more flair than ivory or white. But, it still pairs seemingly with any other color. For fall, some of my favorite shades to accent it with include blush pink, garnet, and apple. Another reason I love it so much is that you can keep the same base and change the accents as you transition between all the fall holidays.
Have a neutral Monday!

Color Me {Lord of Gourds}
I spent the day yesterday relaxing, crafting, and cooking getting in the spirit of fall. Around here, you have to make your own fall feel. With temperatures near where they were in April and May, it takes a world of fall inspired decorations and recipes to really get me in the mood, and what screams of fall more than gourds. It doesn't matter the shape, size or color, I put them everywhere. From a large bowl on the center of my dining table to mini ones turned into candle holders to a display on the front steps, you can find gourds hanging all around. While they are great for crafting and decorating, I really love them for their color. We don't get the changing colors of leaves in Florida, but the beautiful fall tones found naturally in gourds gives me the color shift I'm looking for. I plan on keeping the tones present throughout from now till Thanksgiving and know that it will keep my autumn spirit in tact!

Color Me {Cafe Mocha}
I have finally done the impossible. I have given up coffee. While I haven't cut it out completely, I have significantly cut back. No longer do I rely on the delicious caffeine loaded beverage to wake up and get me through the day. But, I do enjoy a cup once or twice a week, say on a Saturday morning or one of those days when it's especially hard to get going. Now that I've given up my habit, when I do indulge, I like to make it extra special by sipping on a soy cappuccino or my favorite pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks. Something I noticed though, that always slipped me before, is the beauty in the color of deluxe coffee. The mix of light beige from the milk combined with the dark chocolate color of the roast is a combo to classic to pass up. It's perfect for fall too. The warm shades in combination with the cool temperatures outside make any get together feel welcoming and perfect. Try using it with a splash of mustard or garnet to create your one of a kind fall fete!
Have a great Monday!

Color Me {Whiskey & Cigars}
It's hard to believe that it is already October. It seems like just yesterday we were complaining about the blistering heat while enjoying it at the same time. Now, cooler weather has set in and fall activities are in full swing. We are enjoying spending time outside on the back deck just relaxing with a good book or stack of magazines. It has been so nice that we actually went and bought a picnic table this past weekend and ended up sitting out there most of the day Saturday and Sunday. The weather was gorgeous and I couldn't have planned a better way to spend the days. While sitting under the pine trees, I started thinking about R's birthday that will be here in just over a month! For the celebration this year, he has decided he wants to spend it doing some of his favorite things, sitting outside smoking cigars and drinking whiskey. Clearly, I have turned this into the theme and plan on mixing up a few whiskey cocktails, creating a cigar bar, and serving up his favorite chocolate chip cookie cake. With planning now in full swing, I decided to share my inspiration board for the celebration with you today in hopes of inspiring your own fall gatherings and winter birthday get togethers. Whether they be just for fun or parties with meaning, I hope you try and incorporate some of the masculine influence of the whiskey and cigars party into your affair.

Color Me {Burgundy}
Well friends, the first day of fall is finally behind us. Instead of moping in the sadness of summer being gone, I'm going to look to the future full of fall fun. I've packed away the summer brights and pulled out the richer tones of fall. One shade I'm dying over this season is a deep burgundy red. It pairs beautifully with metallics and neutrals alike and I'm loving the idea of incorporating it into every element of my get togethers from cocktails to food to decor. It's especially magnificent when found naturally in elements such as flowers or pomegranates. You can even serve up a nice burgundy wine to compliment the color pallet. Burgundy has to be one of the best shades that translates well from backyard bonfires to holiday meals to weddings. Whatever your upcoming event may be, I hope you incorporate a bit of signature fall shade!
Have a rich Monday!

Color Me {Apple Orchard}
It's no secret I'm a Florida girl in and out, meaning I love the hot weather. Just the thought of winter and being cold makes me want to take off running toward the Caribbean as fast as I can. But, this past weekend, we had our first little taste of fall and I kind of liked it. The afternoons still got up into the high 90s but the mornings and evenings were a nice cool 80 degrees. It was the perfect weather for throwing on a pair of shorts and a chambray shirt and heading out to brunch. Admittedly, it got me excited for fall days ahead. I'm ready for all that the season has to bring like s'mores, bonfires, pumpkin flavors, and apple anything. While I eat apples all year round, nothing beats apple treats in the fall. Whether it be apple pie, apple cider or caramel apples, you really can't go wrong. Plus, the color is gorgeous making for unbelievable decor!

Color Me {Southern Plantation}
This past weekend, I spent the day up at the most gorgeous plantation in South Georgia. It's not the first wedding I've ever done there but it was definitely one of the most gorgeous. We kept the whole setting natural to play up the beauty of the grounds. Shades of sage, silver, and gray filled the room while ivory blooms graced the tables. The whole weekend left me feeling inspired for the week ahead. The day was like a breath of fresh air as warm breezes filled the air. It was a nice break from the still heat we have been experiencing the past couple of months, a sign that change is in the air. As we start a new week, I'm going to think back on the amazing day, a fresh feeling, and look to the bright week ahead.
Have a good Monday!
