Color Me {Pop Fizz Clink}

Happy almost New Year. With Christmas behind us, it's time to get those New Year's plans in order. Start writing down your resolutions and gathering up the bottles of champagne. It's time to remember the great memories of 2013 but starting looking towards all the fun of 2014. Whether 2013 was a good year for you (hopefully it was!) or not, it must come to an end. And what better way to end one chapter and begin another than with an over the top soiree. Bring out the glitz and glam with a classic color scheme of black, silver and gold. Add glitter to whatever you can and most importantly remember to pop open a bottle of bubbly in celebration!

What are your plans for the New Year?

All That Glitters...

Might be gold. I wanted to touch today on some new event trends for 2013. Over the past couple of years we have seen a push for rustic, natural elements in events. Burlap, twine, and shabby chic have been all the rage. But, times are changing. As we continue into 2013 a big trend we will see emerge is the return to elegance, a focus on a bit more of the glitz and glam of it all. With the release of The Great Gatsby, the 1920s flair will start to emerge more and more as well. Now, all of this isn't to say that rustic is out completely. Rustic is still a big trend but you will definitely see more elegant touches added to it. For instance, maybe your soiree takes place at an old barn. Opt for floor length linens, hang chandeliers from the ceiling, and replace mason jars with more modern vases. It gives you the best of both worlds. This is just the tip of all the new trends and I will be sure to share more and more with you over the next few months.

Happy Friday and have a great weekend!

Color Me {Peach}

I'm not sure if I've shared with you or not, but R has started to brew his own beer. It's been an adventure thus far and we've definitely made some errors and brewed some pretty interesting beers. Everything we've brewed up to this point has been a little darker and heavier than my liking. But, this past weekend, we finally brewed a beer just for me, a peach flavored wheat ale. My soon to be Southern Peach Ale has left me inspired, wanting to cover everything in shades of peach. This beautiful shade is the perfect combination of pink and orange. It's light, subtle, and a wonderfully refreshing shade for both spring a summer that can add a touch of glam when mixed with gold accents or feel a bit rustic with vintage wood details. Trying to take it glam? Metallic gold vases filled with peach peonies or gold leaf accents on invitations or escort cars adds the perfect amount of pop. Opting for a down home feel? Family style tables with long vintage boxes filled with peaches is just what the planner ordered!

Hope this leaves you feeling just peachy!

Color Me {Lilac}

After two days of blistering cold, by which I mean highs in the mid 50s, my desire for spring time temperatures has been solidified. And, with warmer temperatures, comes brighter colors. Never a fan a purple, lately I've been lusting after lilac. Whether on its own or paired with shades of green or turquoise, lilac is a fresh shade for spring. It ties in beautifully no matter the feel of your soiree. It's a perfect compliment to both a rustic rumble or a glam gathering.

This Party Inspired By {Holiday Sparkle}

Tis the season for holiday parties! During this time everybody's social calendar seems to fill with holiday parties galore. Whether you are hosting one or simply a doting guest, the focus is always on the decor. And with so many on the calendar, it is bound to get a little repetitive. So maybe you should be the one to mix it up. I love the idea of doing holiday sparkle. Fill the room with golds, silvers, pinks and glitter! If the things people associate with the holidays are there, it really doesn't matter the color. Roll branches from the yard with glitter to make an eye catching centerpiece or fill clear ornaments with confetti. Add vases of ornaments and brightly colored tassel to mix it up. I love the idea of hanging ornaments at various lengths in front of the window. Looking for a little interaction? Have clear ornaments, bowls of glitter, and ribbon and let guests make their own ornament for their tree! Frankly, with glitter involved, the possibilities are endless!

What are your holiday party plans this year? Hosting or attending?

Get Creative {Branching Out}

You go to a wedding or a party and everybody expects there to be an abundance of flowers everywhere. Well how about this time, there's not. We are going (technically everybody else is in it) into fall, and branches are abundant. And, I'm feeling for my next party I want to walk outside, pick some up off the ground, or maybe rip them from the tree, decorate them and use them as a center piece. How gorgeous would it be to have branches lying on the table with little votive candles stuck between each little branch? I promise that's not considered a fire hazard. Or maybe roll them in glitter and stream crystals through them. Talk about glitzy glam. Seriously, there are a thousand different ways you could use branches, and as long as you branch out, it doesn't really matter.

Party Inspired {Sparklers}

Yes, the fireworks are great. But, my favorite part of the Fourth has always been the sparklers! I love how you can spell out words and dance around with them. I'm especially intrigued at how these people spelled out "love"! So cute right? When it comes to parties, I figure there is always a little room for some glitz and glam inspired by my favorite...the sparkler! I'm not suggesting you go over the top here! Just a little splash here and there. On the vases for the flowers, your shoes, or a lovely hanging sign are perfect areas to add little touches!
