Color Me {Strawberry Lemonade}

As the sun gets brighter and the days get longer, I can't help but remember back to a simpler time. When your a kid, all that really matters is having fun. You're carefree, full of life and celebrate each little victory. I can't help but wonder why it can't be the same when we grow up. It is my vow that from now on, I will take the little kids approach to life. Celebrate everything and just have fun. Today's post is an ode to that. The pink and yellow combo screams of spring and fun memories. Just looking at it, I can't help but smile and want to bust out the old fashioned lemonade stand for some neighborhood fun. Now, while I go plan a block party, tell me...what's was your favorite part about being a kid that you will bring to your life now?

Have a great Monday!

Bucket Full of Fun

Spring has sprung and I've never been happier. I was in desperate need of warm days and sunshine afternoons spent outside lounging. Now that it's here, it's time to pack away the coats and winter fun and create my spring bucket list. It's bursting with bright activities and seasonal adventures you'll want to do yourself. Here's my list of springtime must dos!

1. Entertain Outdoors: Spring is the perfect time to host an outdoor soiree. The temperatures aren't too hot and the flowers are in full bloom creating natural decor.

2. Go Custom: I'm tired of searching for the perfect service pieces. Now that I've discovered Martha Stewart Glass Paint, I plan on creating my own pieces for every occasion.

3. Clean It Out: The front planter bed at our house has been suffering for quite a while now. It's overgrown and a little ratty looking. I can't wait to get in there is a pair of sheers and make it look fresh again. It's the ultimate form of spring cleaning if you ask me!

4. Take a Bike Ride: I'm from a coastal town and bike rides around town are what we do best. Living in a city that is a bit spread out makes that hard. But, this spring, I'm determined to bring bike riding back. Watch out Tallahassee, me and my bike are coming for you!

5. Shop the Farmer's Market: I love hitting the farmer's market in the spring. It brings out more vendors and fresher fruits and vegetables. I can't wait to see what interesting treats they have and to create some fresh yummy dishes to share with you.

6. Grow a Green Thumb: I am notorious for killing off plants. It doesn't matter what kind of plant, it instantly dies in my care. But, this spring I'm determined to take a fresh approach to things and start small with some fresh herbs.

Have a great weekend y'all!

Party DIY {Spring Napkin Rings}

I've recently been inspired by things I find around my own house. Things that seem so out of the ordinary and could never be anything beautiful or party appropriate. It started one day when I was reminiscing about the fun crafts from elementary school made from things like paper plates, paper towel rolls, plain white paper and more. We used such creativity as a kid and it has seemed to disappear over the years. I decided to bring it back though. I wanted to take your average brown toilet paper (or paper towel) roll and turn it into something bright, fun and perfect for everyday or party days. The outcome, colorful patterned napkin rings. I instagramed a sneak peak over the weekend and am glad to share the step by step DIY with you today. Here you go...

:: Supplies ::
1 Toilet Paper Roll
Ruler
Scissors
Pencil
Assorted Acrylic Paint
Flower Appliqué

:: Directions ::
1. Begin by measuring 1" increments on the roll. Mark with a pencil. Trace line around roll.
2. Cut around lines. Trim rough edges.
3. Paint a base color on each ring. Let dry. With a second color, paint a pattern such as lines or dots. Let dry. Adorn with self adhering flower applique.

Color Me {In Full Bloom}

I told you all how big of spring kick I was on. Even with the cold front we have had this past weekend, I can't stop thinking of all the good things to come this spring. Warm sunny days filled with outdoor dining and refreshing cocktails are a few of the things to look forward to. But, what I'm most excited about are all of the fresh blooms. I can't wait for the gorgeous tree outside my front door to get it's big pink blooms back and to switch out the dead winter buds in my planter box for eye catching florals. While I sit and wait for the warmer weather to slowly arrive, this floral print inspiration board will give me hope of sunny days to come!

Have a great Monday!

Color Me {Green & White}

One of my favorite times of year is when the grocery stores start stocking tulips again. They have always been one of my favorite flowers and their arrival in the floral section means that spring is impending. While tulips come in all sorts of gorgeous spring colors, my favorite is white. I love how crisp and fresh the white bud is matched with the green stem. It symbolizes newness to come and brighter days ahead. The color combo is classically bright and perfect for soirees of all types.

Color Me {Periwinkle}

Happy Monday dolls! In the spirit of spring, I've been doing a lot of weddings lately inspired by wondrous shades of purple. While most of them have been luxurious grape hues, I've been dreaming about incorporating striking periwinkle. With it's blue undertones, this shade of purple is much softer than others, not to mention incredibly unique. Using this hue screams of youthful freshness. I love it paired with turquoise and white, vibrant yellow, or cobalt for a more monochromatic look. Vintage glasses dyed periwinkle and filled with soft, romantic buds should take center stage atop coordinating printed linens. Continue with the color theme by pouring dyed cocktails and serving up lavender treats. No matter the way you use it or what other colors you pair it with, periwinkle is a gorgeous, vibrant shade for your spring soiree.

Center of Attention {Green Grass}

As we move closer to summer, I'm always reminded of the smell of fresh cut grass. The crisp, clean smell instantly takes me back summers spent outdoors running and playing in the hot sun. Though as I've grown older, the days spent outside playing have been replaced with dreaming of days galavanting in the sunshine. As I think back on the fresh cut grass and hot summer days, I can't help but want to incorporate that same nostalgic feel into an event. And, this centerpiece spotted on Pinterest has done just that. The strip of grass acting as a table runner is a perfect accent to the dark tabletop. I love how the focus stays on grass by keeping other elements simple. The small bud vases and tea candles allow the green grass to really pop and take center stage. Keep the colors interesting and eye catching by using bright buds in your vases. Hues such as fuschia, yellow, or purple will keep it visually interesting without being gaudy. I would stay away from accents such as white or beige for fear that it will be just too plain. Whether for a small gathering of close friends for Sunday brunch or a big bash full of friends and family from near and far, try incorporating a little green grass into your next table top.

Remember what they say. They grass isn't always greener on the other side. It doesn't exactly fit, but it's the only quote about grass...

Color Me {Cherry Blossom}

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a relaxing Easter weekend. I'm feeling inspired today by all the fresh blooms that are popping up. As I'm sitting here, I've got the doors and windows open and I'm reminded of the gorgeous cherry blossoms that bloom every spring up north. Their subtle mix of shades of pink is a beautiful sign that spring time is upon us. The soft hues give a lovely sense of elegance and romance. The color combination is great for outdoor spring soirees. Compliment with soft shades of white or cream to brighten the palette. Mix patterns in the same or coordinating hues to keep it interesting. Complete your cherry blossom inspired soiree with a centerpiece full of the beautiful bud or maybe even a headpiece strung with them!

Color Me: Raspberry

Happy Monday! How is everyone doing with the time change? I must admit I'm still a little tired. That's okay though because in my book it's officially spring! One of my favorite flavors and colors for spring is raspberry. The light, refreshing taste and vibrant hue are a wonderful welcome from the dull heaviness of winter. Pair the shade with light sky blue to allow it's vibrancy to really pop. Imagine rich raspberry florals atop a printed sky blue linen. Can you imagine the gorgeousness? Intensify the color by treating guests with raspberry flavored treats. Raspberry macaroon with a lemon filling is a light and refreshing dessert perfect for the season. Serve up champagne topped with a little fresh raspberry puree and a raspberry garnish and your guests will be screaming of spring as much as you and your soiree!

Color Me {Fuschia}

I've finally broken off my blue kick! I know it's taken awhile but I am branching out to a color that has always scared me a little because it is so bold, fuschia. I'm in love with how this color just pops against every surface. Whether it be in a bouquet, on a house, in your food, or on your feet, it illuminates every surface. It's a perfect shade to waken up all your winter blues and bloom into spring. This bold shade is perfect paired with navy, lime, gray, or white. Whatever color you pair it with, gives it a completely different feel. The lime accent will give off a preppy feel with the white let's the color shine all on its own. The navy brings a bit of nautical to the glam shade while the gray gives it a bit of a modern feel. Too scared to use it as the primary color for your soiree? Let is pop as the accent against colors that make you feel more comfortable. Whether as an accent or the show stopper, fuschia is the perfect shade for your spring soiree!

Color Me {Mustard}

Happy Monday! How was everyone's weekend? With a warm front bringing temperatures in the mid 70s all weekend, I was left longing for spring time temperatures and bright colors. Even though it doesn't get very cold here, and when it does it only lasts for a short time, I've been itching to pack away my coats and sweaters for a while now. Every night I'm hoping for an (extremely) early start to spring. With bright buds on the trees, and smiling faces enjoying the sun what's not to love? So, in a spring state of mind, I'm feeling inspired this week by one of my favorite spring time classics, mustard yellow. The special thing about mustard is it's ability to act as both a neutral or a pop of color. Paired with navy blue accents, mustard adds just the right amount of pop to bring the pallet alive. But, when paired with a shade of purple or green, it is able to bring the pallet down a notch so it's not so in your face. Which ever way you wear (or use) it, mustard is a must have for spring!
