Color Me {Confetti Fun}

I've been finding it more and more difficult to locate good confetti. It's really a shame as confetti is probably one of my favorite party decorations of all time. It's such a nostalgic touch that really takes a bash to the next level if you ask me. That's why I'm officially declaring this week confetti week! How excited are you? Hopefully as much as I am! We're starting the week with a little confetti inspiration that is making me want to grab a big pile and throw it in the air. By the way, I'll show you how to make your own confetti thrower a bit later this week!

I can't think of a better way to lift spirits after a long work week last week and a rainy weekend. Let's celebrate the start of a new week and toss a bit of confetti for fun! Have a happy Monday.

Cinco Style

I know it's only April, but May is full of some of my favorite celebrations, and it's never to early to start planning. One of these celebrations is Cinco de Mayo. I mainly use it as an excuse to drink margaritas and eat way too much Mexican food. It's kinda my favorite. Plus there are festive dresses, pinatas, and tons of bright color. In the latest issue of LPF Mag, I shared fun Cinco de Mayo brunch. It can easily be translated though to any Cinco celebration. Instead of mini pinatas decorating the table, hang giant ones from the ceiling filled with traditional candies. Adorn glasses with mustache stickers to designate glasses as opposed to escort cards. Drape colorful fabric to form a photo booth back drop full of fun for all. One thing you don't have to transform though, the build your own margarita bar. It's a party must!

What are your plans for Cinco de Mayo? Will you head out to a Mexican restaurant or bring the celebration home?

Fiesta Time

Happy Friday y'all! Since Friday is naturally a fiesta day, I thought I would share with you my inspiration behind the LPF Mag beach fiesta shoot I have coming up in a few short weekends. While the entire spread will be a series of three different themed beach parties, I want to keep the other two a secret until the issue comes out. For the beach fiesta, I wanted to stick with a traditionally Mexican feel (bright colors, bold patterns, etc.) but have it still be coastal (relaxed, fun, simplistic). The combination of the two seems a bit difficult to combine (loud but simple), but I think I've managed to do just that and can't wait to share the final product with you when the third issue comes out. Until then, I hope this inspiration board I used to plan will make you as anxious for the issue as it has me!

Have a great weekend!

Color Me {Multi}

Happy Monday! How was everyone's Cinco de Derby (as I will now refer to the joint holiday)? Mine was fantastic. I'm going to be upfront with you...today's post is going to be a little on the short side. As I sit here writing the crowds have just left a great celebration for my Dad's 50th birthday and we are all winding down from the whirlwind weekend. I'm feeling inspired today by the festive multi shades of the weekend. Liven up any event by having more than the typical one or two shades. The rainbow affect is bound to bring a good time to any soiree!

Color Me {Tropical}

Happy Monday! Lately there has been a lot of talk about summer going around my house. Sailing trips to tropical locations and lazy days on the water have left me inspired and dreaming of crystal clear turquoise waters and the vibrant hues that surround it. Seeing colorful images of summer days leaves me with an instant sense of relaxation. I'm taken back to when I was younger and used to run around my quaint little beach town in a bathing suit, cover up, sunglasses, and no shoes. Can't wait to get to the beach this summer? Throw a tropical soiree one weekend for you and your friend to relax from the week while imagining you are far away laying by the crystal clear waters of the caribbean. Bright colors, bold patterns, palm frawns, and maybe even a little sand in your back yard. Pull out the lawn chairs, put an umbrella in your drink, and relax!

Lusting After {Bold Stripes}

Last weekend, a friend of mine gave me the cutest striped Kate Spade coasters for my birthday. Ever since, I've been lusting after their bright shades and eye catching pattern. They left me imagining all the ways I could fill my life with bold stripes whether they be colorful or black and white. With striped straws all ready purchased, it's time to figure out where else I can bring in a pop of pattern. From my wardrobe, to a new tablecloth, or even my stairs, the possibilities are endless. Though, I must admit, I don't think I could ever get away with striping my car!

This Party Inspired By {Sprinkles}

Do you remember when you were young and a scoop of ice cream or a slice of cake wasn't the same without the sprinkles? It completed the treat. Well, the coolness of sprinkles has returned. I mean hello, do you see this cake that is embroidered with sprinkles? Talk about amazing! Or, look at that sprinkle bar. I love it! Seriously, I can't stop gushing. I love the idea of passing around shots of milk rimmed in sprinkles to your guests as the night is winding down. Add a warm chocolate chip cookie and it would be perfect!

This Week I Feel...Colorful

So, I would like to start with a little story today. Last Christmas while out shopping for my gift, seeming all lost and confused, the lovely sales associate decided to provide R. with a little help. She proceeded to ask him, "What's your girlfriend's favorite color?" His response, "Black. Or maybe white." While yes, it may be just about the only color I ever wear, it is not my favorite color.  Thus, I have been inspired lately by Kate Spade's new campaign to Live Colorfully! Incorporating extra pops of color in every way is a must now. I'm dying over the "pop" bar with a multitude of colored sodas, the colorful paisley cake, and the delicious looking bright macaroons. Even Miranda Lambert is deciding to live colorfully with her eye catching bouquet of broaches given to her at her bridal shower! Looking to have your own colorful soiree? Try having a color scheme of more than just one or two colors like the couple who had their wedding party in a rainbow of dresses, or the yellow, green, teal, and pink bash in the right hand corner! Even the reception at the bottom center is not too over the top for a colorfully lived life! So here is a little challenge for this lovely Monday, as you reach for that black get up to head to work, put it back and instead reach for something full of color and see if it brightens up your seemingly gloomy work day!
