Party DIY {Cake Topper Redo}
Last week I showed you all three amazing cake toppers and told you to pick your favorite. After a couple days of voting, the pompoms emerged victorious. So, with glue gun in hand, I got to work. Recreating it proved to be much easier than I thought, and much cheaper than the original only costing $3.10 in new materials (The hot glue and skewers are items I keep stocked for projects). I opted to use felt as opposed to a chiffon type material and I couldn't be happier with how they turned out. Here's how to make it yourself in the colors of your soiree!
:: Supplies ::
Felt in desired colors
Package of small styrofoam balls (I found them at the Dollar Store)
Hot Glue
Skewers
Scissors
:: Directions ::
1. Begin by tracing circles 1.5 inches in diameter on the felt. Cut each one out.
2. Pinch the center of each circle and dab with hot glue.
3. Attache to the styrofoam ball. Continue until ball is covered.
4. Stick ball on top of the skewer and trim stick to desired height.

Fall Vows
With the change of seasons upon us, I've been feeling crazy inspired. While that can be a very good thing, it has me feeling all over the board. Getting excited about everything that fall and fall gatherings can bring leaves me longing for a bit of focus. So, today I am taking the time to focus it all into one post. While the list is not extensive, I have gathered some of my favorite ideas as my blogging promise to you. Over the course of this season, I vow to give you tutorials on all of the following, amongst other things.
I love to hear from you too! Are you feeling especially inspired by something and don't know how to quite make it happen? Let me know and I'll do it for you. Feel free to comment here, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, it doesn't matter. After all, I want Events Uncorked to be relateable and a source of inspiration for you!

Topped Off {Cupcake PomPoms}
Cupcakes are cute, but want to know what makes them cuter? A topper. The cupcake trend is taking over and it's time to snaz it up a bit. You can keep the sprinkles and the caramel drizzle, but what's really needed is a topper. Cakes have been topped with everything from candles to bunting and even miniature people. And it's time to bring the topper trend to the cupcake. Right now, I'm loving the idea of topping the little indulgence with homemade flair like these yarn pom poms. The ball of fun is sure to catch stares from across the room. My favorite part? How easy they are to make. In just a few minutes, you've created a fluffy ball of joy. The steps are simple and I'm sharing them with you below. What's your favorite way to top off delectable treats like lemon cupcakes?
:: Supplies ::
Ball of Yarn
Scissors
Mini Skewers
2 Fingers
:: Directions ::
1. Wrap yarn around middle and index finger approximately 30-40 times. Cut yarn and remove from fingers still keeping shape.
2. Cut piece approximately 2 inches in length and tie around center of looped yarn.
3. Take scissors and cut the ends on each side. Trim uneven, long pieces to from perfect sphere.
4. Stake skewer in middle of the pom pom, insert into center of cupcake, step back and admire!

Topped Off {Cake Bunting}
Happy Wednesday dolls! Recently, I've been searching for the perfect cake topper for any occasion. I'm getting a little tired of the traditional candles, sprinkles, monograms and figurines. While still hoping for something that will add a little dimension, I was feeling stuck. That is, until I stumbled upon cake bunting. How cute right! It gives any cake some extra height making it look much bigger than it actually is. Plus, look how it can jazz up this otherwise boring white cake. All you need is two sticks and a small banner or two to string between them and your cake is ready to go. With endless celebrations and an abundance of creativity, the possibilities for cake bunting are countless!
