A Little Friday Lovin' {New Year's Resolutions}

It's almost time to start new and resolve to picking up a good habit or maybe dropping a bad one. This year, my resolution, as it seems it always is, is to eat better. I'm not talking about just cutting out cookies or margaritas. I mean making a conscious effort to eat more vegetables and less foods that are full of empty calories. However after the first month it always seems to get much harder and we forget what we resolved to do in the first place. Well, I have a fun party solution for you! At this year's New Year's party, invite guests to write their resolution down, save them for next year and pull them out to see if each was kept. A few of my favorite ideas are to sign each resolution on a bottle of champagne to saved till next year's celebration. Then, before popping the bottle for 2013, read each resolution as a reminder of what you promised yourself. Other great ideas are a resolution reminder bracelet, creating a resolution time capsule, sentence fill in the blanks, pinning them to a wreath, or even hanging them from a tree! Whatever you choose, it's a great way to remember throughout the year what you set out to do!

What's your New Year's resolution?

A Little Friday Lovin' {Light the Night}

At this point my dolls, Christmas is only 2 days away! One of my favorite things to do every year is venture out and check out the amazing light displays people come up with! Well hands down, the most amazing one this year goes to a family right down the street. As the winner of "Good Morning America"'s  Best Light Display contest, I had to check this amazing light display out. Dedicated to our troops, this Southwood, Tallahassee, Florida, family really went above and beyond. Watch the video above to see what I mean.

{Here is where you watch the video in aww.}

Pretty amazing right? I am proud to say that I live in the same town as these people and have the privilege of seeing this display in person.  But don't fret, the best displays aren't simply the ones that are perfectly timed to music and move. No. Here are some of my other favorite displays of the year!

A Little Friday Lovin'

I'm feeling a little under the weather today providing me with little motivation to do much of anything. But, I couldn't just leave you hanging without any Friday inspiration so I thought I would share a couple of the images that are inspiring me lately. Enjoy!

Happy Friday Dolls! xo

A Little Friday Lovin' {Funny Wedding Pictures}

Jumpers

Is anybody else as tired as I am of looking at those old, boring, posed wedding shots? I don't know how you feel, but the prom pose should be left at prom. It should never make an appearance at your wedding. I actually think it shouldn't even make an appearance at prom, but that's beside the point. Today, I'm majorly loving these funny and creative wedding shots! Scroll down and let me know what you think of the rest!

A Little Friday Lovin' {Let's Hang}

I'm a huge fan of hanging things from the ceiling. I don't really care what it is, but my first thought is to always hang it from the ceiling. I know it may seem a little strange, but nothing fills a space more than if there is something hanging from the ceiling. Think about it, if everything you have is the same height on tables that look the same, the room will only have one dimension. Hence why I always want to hang things from the ceiling. Plus, it will make a blah room look more festive. Take for example tomorrow's carnival. The room, which is a very nice room, is a strange shade of blue teal with a darker shade of blue teal boarder on the door frames and floor boards. Just slightly strange. But, since clearly they won't let me paint the room with red and white stripes, I'm hanging red and white pom poms from the ceiling. How do you feel about things hanging from the ceiling?

A Little Friday Lovin' {Florida State}

Keep calm. Football season is near. It's true. It's tomorrow! And I can hardly contain my excitement. With a top 10 ranking, I'm really feeling like this is our year! Then again, I think I say that every year. Anyways, I know this week's Friday Lovin' is a little different than usual, but it's right on track with what I'm loving right now. As the season kicks off tomorrow, I will be right there cheering on my Noles decked in garnet and gold! What are you lovin' this Friday?

Have a safe and fun holiday weekend! xo

A Little Friday Lovin' {Balloons}

I feel like I've been kicking it old school lately with all the posts about streamers and sprinkles and now balloons. But, what can I say? Sometimes it's okay to embrace your inner child and enjoy all the party decorations you had as a kid! For the longest time, I had a major problem with balloons. I don't know; I guess they just reminded me too much of the cheesy ways they were used when I was a kid. But now, I can't stop thinking of amazing ways to use them. Obviously now, all the colors will coordinate instead of being every color of the rainbow and they clearly (probably) won't have any writing on them. While I still am not a fan of those shiny balloon in the shapes of numbers or wedding bells, I am now a huge fan of normal, pretty colored balloons. See that top picture in the right hand corner, I'm even recreating that for a party I have coming up! I'll be sure to show you pictures after.

Have a great weekend and remember: Life's a Party...Plan Accordingly! xo

A Little Friday Lovin' {Calligraphy}

My mom has always written calligraphy and when I was little, I thought it was this old, ugly looking type of writing. Well, I guess as you get older, you taste gets better. Because now, I'm kind of obsessed with it. I've been coming across all of these beautiful images of handwritten calligraphy lately and I'm kind of obsessed. It makes me really want to learn how to write it! I like that something as simple as calligraphy can transform the outside of an envelope or even a snack bag to be fun and formal. What do you think of calligraphy? Fresh and new or old and outdated?

Have a great weekend! xo

A Little Friday Lovin' {Streamers}

Do you remember when you were a kid and the only decorations you wanted at your party was streamers? You would twist them and hang them from the ceiling, hang them in the door way, or if you were like me, hang them on yourself. And then, as you grew up, streamers became surprisingly uncool. Well guess what, they are totally cool again! I came across this image (the one in the bottom left corner) and thought their use of streamers was genius. So, curious and excited, I started to search for other images of streamers. And low and behold, I have come across some of the cutest and totally non-cheesy, little kid, tacky ways to use them! They are so fun, quirky, and bright. They add that little element to you party that let's guests know that it's actually a party and not a stuffy let's be on our best behavior kind of affair. Let's put it this way, on my way home tonight, I may just pick up some streamers, just because I can. And I might even hang them all over my house just because it's Friday and I can!

Happy Weekend! xo

A Little Friday Lovin' {Rope Details}

Being from the beach (and no longer living there), I have been trying to bring little nautical touches in everywhere. And by little, I mean in every square foot I can get them in. Anyways, rope details are perfect for bringing a nautical touch to your house or soiree without the area screaming "I'm a nautical themed bash." My new favorite idea is coiling up a rope in glass bowl, as in the picture above, and using it as a centerpiece. Plus, how fab are those Christian Louboutin's? I mean talk about the most amazing use of rope ever! Seriously, I could go on forever, but I will spare you my continuous blabbering about rope. How do you feel about it? Would you add rope details to your next bash or your home?

A Little Friday Lovin' {Stripes}

So, I'm a little bit obsessed with horizontal stripes right now. Apparently, they are supposed to make you look wider, but frankly "I just don't give a damn." (Who can name that movie?!) I'm kind of obsessed with how classic they are. Stripes are a great pattern to add to any soiree. They bring in a visual interest to the room while still keeping your event classic.  I mean, look at the table in the top right hand corner. It is way more visually appealing than if the striped table cloth were replaced with a solid white one.  I want to know, do you have the same infatuation with stripes as I do? Or are they a little too much for you?

Remember...Life's a Party, Plan Accordingly! Have a great weekend! xo

A Little Friday Lovin' {Globe Lights}

So, I kind of have this obsession with outdoor weddings. Frankly, I just think (unless you have an amazing indoor venue) that they are much prettier. But, my obsession with outdoor weddings has grown. It has now escalated to outdoor weddings at night, lit by nothing but globe lights and candles. They bring a soft light and a romantic glow to the evening. I mean, if it's a wedding shouldn't there always be a little romantic something involved? There is always something interesting to do with globe lighting. The possibilities are endless. You could outline your dance floor, hang them over your alter, or even center them over each table for concentrated light. How do you feel about globe lighting? Over used or perfect?

A Little Friday Lovin' {Kraft Paper}

Okay, so you know how in movies you see gorgeous women carrying gorgeous flowers wrapped in gorgeous kraft paper? Well, every time I see that, I go green with envy because all my flowers ever come in is clear plastic! This could explain why when ever I see a kraft paper accent, I flip. I think it's cute, chic, perfect, and gives this amazing down home, I did it myself, but it actually looks incredibly pulled together look to every event! Being from the south, I think it's important to make sure your guests feel at home.  Kraft paper accents such as menus, wrapping paper, and envelopes are fab! What do you think of kraft paper accents? Would you add them to your event?

A Little Friday Lovin' {Bow Ties}

I've been so rude lately, I've completely forgotten all about the boys! So, I've decided to give a little lovin' to the ever stylish, unmistakably southern, and absolutely adorable bow tie! I've been trying to persuade R. to wear one for a while now (and maybe reading this with be that little extra push I need to convince him) because I think they are just so irresistible! I mean honestly, is that dog not the cutest thing you have ever seen? There are so many patterns and colors, your guy could wear a different one everyday and never repeat! How do you feel about bow ties? Would you make him wear put one on, like I'm about to make R. do?

Hope you all have a good weekend! xo

A Little Friday Lovin' {Chalkboards}

When I was younger, I used to hate going to the chalkboard at school! The dust would get all over my fingers, and I found it incredible difficult to write. But now, I can't seem to get enough of them.  I even have one painted on the all of my kitchen.  They are the perfect little accessory for your party. Since they can be reused time after time, I don't see why everyone shouldn't have a couple small signs on hand at all times to add a little chic, eco friendly factor to your soiree. A chalkboard fits easily into any theme and can be incorporated in so many ways.  My favorite is the surfboard that has been painted with chalkboard paint and turned into a menu for a beach wedding. So unique! I'm also loving the sandwich board, and I must admit I even built one for myself to use for all tasks from a score board for a back yard game of corn hole to a wedding sign! Let me know, would you incorporate chalk boards into your event?

A Little Friday Lovin' {Chevron}

Personally, I think a chevron stripe is both classic and fun.  I considered it for my new business cards, used it on an invitation, and love it on that cake in the top left corner.  They really have a place in every aspect of life if you ask me.  And, I'm moving into my a new place in a month or so and can't wait to start decorating.  So naturally I'm dreaming of throwing up a chevron anywhere I can. But, the problem is, it's not very gender friendly.  Basically, I'm living vicariously through the chevron stripes in this post! But, here is my plan...use it on the fabric for the curtains or maybe a tablecloth that I bust out for weekend get togethers, or even do a little craft project and paint it onto a vase! Plus the way I see it, if I put it only in little accessories like that, I can use it for parties!

A Little Friday Lovin' {Dad}

Seeing as Father's Day is Sunday, I wanted today's Friday Lovin' to be all about my dad! Lately I've been thinking about what I can do to make the day special just for him.  For a man who does so much, this should be his day to do as he pleases and partake in some of his favorite things.  So here's a little run down of how I'm thinking our Father's Day should go this year! I'm thinking the perfect day for Dad starts with some homemade blueberry pancakes and maybe a bike ride down to the beach to hang for a few hours.  The beach will be followed up with a great came of ball with our dog, Harley.  Finish off the day by throwing ribs on the Big Green Egg or grilling burgers at Jose's (the bar my Dad built on our back deck) with a rum drink in hand!  But, even if we don't spend the day this way, I'm sure it will be great! Making Dad happy on this day is all that matters.  After everything he has done for me, he deserves more than one day a year dedicated just to him. Thanks for everything Dad! I love you.

Lusting After {Cake Stands}

Over the course of the past couple of weeks, I have noticed my recent obsession with cake stands.  I do believe I get it from my grandmother (She has hundreds. Literally.), so I probably could have expected this love to develop at some point in time.  But, in the past weeks, I've began to realize how functional they can actually be. And not just for cake.  They are great for adding height and a little flair to a table! Plus, by using cake stands as display for other foods being served, you get double the space on your table. With so many styles, colors, heights, and diameters, I can see why my grandmother has so many. Take note R., with the amount she has and all the ones I want, we may need a storage unit for just my cake stands!
