Sweet As Pie

Happy Wednesday dolls! I hope everyone is having a very good week thus far. Part of throwing a great party is making sure it's on trend. Trends don't always have to be decor related though. It can be a style of dining, a new flavor, or a new theme such as murder mystery. I touched a few weeks ago on the Gatsby theme that is taking over the event world. Today I want to hit on a hot new food trend. Say goodbye to your traditional cake and cupcakes and say hello to the dessert bar! I love the idea of creating a bar full of mini nostalgic desserts like s'mores, macaroons, chocolate chip cookies, grandma's pound cake and more. It provides guests with a variety of options and ensures that there is a little something for everybody. Include your favorite desserts from childhood and now to create the perfect dessert bar both you and your guests will enjoy!

Party DIY {Modern Stripped Votives}

I shared with you yesterday the new party trend for 2013, elegant and modern with a vintage touch. But, elegant and modern doesn't mean you can't create your own party details. Always a fan of the DIY, I wanted to show you a way to create a centerpiece representing the new trend with a handmade touch. These stripped votives were easy enough to make and would fit any event perfectly. The stripes are a bit quirky with the gray adding a modern touch. The modern shape of the votives completes the whole look. Here's how to make your own!

:: Supplies ::
3 Glass Cylinder Vases of Varying Sizes
Painter's Tape
Gray Spray Paint

:: Directions ::
1. Tape each vase with painters tape, leaving 1" of space between each piece of tape.
2. Spray with gray paint. Let dry and spray a second coat.

3. Once paint is dry, remove painter's tape.
4. Fill votives and decorate!

Party Pretty {Vintage Cocktail Glasses}

As we move into a new year and a new season, like all things, the trend for events are changing. No longer will we see an over abundance of rustic themes but more modern and elegant affairs with a vintage touch. That brings me to today's post all about vintage cocktail glasses. The glasses themselves don't have to be from a different era to portray the look you want. Many places are creating the vintage inspired glasses at a much more affordable price. When paired with clean and modern details, the vintage glasses add the perfect touch making the event one of a kind.
