Color Me {Merry & Bright}

Well, we are down to the wire. Christmas is only two days away. It's time to start baking up cookies for Santa and getting ready for a joyous holiday celebration. We are off today to see family all over the state for the next two weeks and I'm excited to spend some time away and celebrate with those that mean the most to us. It's hard for me to not be in a good mood this time of year and I wanted to translate that into today's inspiration. Much like my mood, this board is filled with all things merry and bright. To some Christmas may mean red and green, but sometimes it's nice to mix it up. Who's to say you can't have a holiday filled with all the colors of the rainbow? Pinks, turquoises, and greens sure fill the room with joy unlike any combination I've seen before. If this doesn't put a smile on your face there may just be something wrong!

Color Me {Traditional Christmas}

We get to that point every year where the conversation shifts from summer vacations and weekend road trips to Christmas traditions and holiday decor. Like many, the first thing that pops into my head are thoughts of traditional touches like deep red and hunter green plaid topping a table filled with homemade cookies and festive cocktails. Combine that with a roaring fire, mugs of hot cocoa and a blanket of fresh snow outside and you have the picture perfect traditional Christmas. While some of us live in areas where this is far from reality, there are ways to create the "traditional" Christmas no matter the circumstances. All you need is a bright holiday spirit and a sea of red and green decor to create that unmistakable Christmas feel!

Color Me {Lord of Gourds}

I spent the day yesterday relaxing, crafting, and cooking getting in the spirit of fall. Around here, you have to make your own fall feel. With temperatures near where they were in April and May, it takes a world of fall inspired decorations and recipes to really get me in the mood, and what screams of fall more than gourds. It doesn't matter the shape, size or color, I put them everywhere. From a large bowl on the center of my dining table to mini ones turned into candle holders to a display on the front steps, you can find gourds hanging all around. While they are great for crafting and decorating, I really love them for their color. We don't get the changing colors of leaves in Florida, but the beautiful fall tones found naturally in gourds gives me the color shift I'm looking for. I plan on keeping the tones present throughout from now till Thanksgiving and know that it will keep my autumn spirit in tact!

Color Me {Southern Plantation}

This past weekend, I spent the day up at the most gorgeous plantation in South Georgia. It's not the first wedding I've ever done there but it was definitely one of the most gorgeous. We kept the whole setting natural to play up the beauty of the grounds. Shades of sage, silver, and gray filled the room while ivory blooms graced the tables. The whole weekend left me feeling inspired for the week ahead. The day was like a breath of fresh air as warm breezes filled the air. It was a nice break from the still heat we have been experiencing the past couple of months, a sign that change is in the air. As we start a new week, I'm going to think back on the amazing day, a fresh feeling, and look to the bright week ahead.

Color Me {Mint}

Happy Monday y'all! Spring has officially sprung (even though the temperatures may not feel like it) and it's time to pack away those lifeless winter colors. I've been dreaming a lot about bright spring shades lately and can't get enough of how happy they make me. I posted last week about vibrant coral but wanted to save my favorite spring shade till the season had officially begun. Even before mint was the color of the year, I was obsessed. It reminds me of the islands and relaxing times. Plus it's just one of those colors that makes me smile just looking at it. And isn't that what spring is all about! 

Party Pretty {St. Patrick's Day}

Happy Wednesday! We are half way through the week and half way to celebrating in the green. I already shared how I would be spending my day (hint: sipping whisky and preparing for Rob's homecoming!), but if I were to celebrate any other way, you know it would be in style. Color Me {Kelly Green}

Happy Monday y'all! I've been so busy with work lately that I completely forgot St. Patrick's Day was coming up on Sunday. I guess that makes me a bad Irish girl. Oh well. Rob will still be in Alaska, so we have no big plans, but that doesn't mean I can't celebrate! I'm imagining spending the day in a bright green number, sipping my last whisky cocktail of the season. I'll snack on Irish favorites like soda bread and potatoes. What do you have planned for St. Patty's Day?

Color Me {In Full Bloom}

I told you all how big of spring kick I was on. Even with the cold front we have had this past weekend, I can't stop thinking of all the good things to come this spring. Warm sunny days filled with outdoor dining and refreshing cocktails are a few of the things to look forward to. But, what I'm most excited about are all of the fresh blooms. I can't wait for the gorgeous tree outside my front door to get it's big pink blooms back and to switch out the dead winter buds in my planter box for eye catching florals. While I sit and wait for the warmer weather to slowly arrive, this floral print inspiration board will give me hope of sunny days to come!

Color Me {Green & White}

One of my favorite times of year is when the grocery stores start stocking tulips again. They have always been one of my favorite flowers and their arrival in the floral section means that spring is impending. While tulips come in all sorts of gorgeous spring colors, my favorite is white. I love how crisp and fresh the white bud is matched with the green stem. It symbolizes newness to come and brighter days ahead. The color combo is classically bright and perfect for soirees of all types.

Color Me {Evergreen}

I love writing during the holidays because I find inspiration in all that surrounds me. The twinkle of the lights, the sparkles of the ornaments, the perfection of the bows on the gifts under the tree and more make this time of year so fun and awe inspiring. With Christmas just one week away, today I'm feeling inspired by the natural beauty of the tree standing tall in my living room. The evergreen color is pure and classic and emits a true feeling of the season. I look forward to putting it up every year and am not looking forward to having to take it down!

Color Me {Plaid}

Plaid is one of my favorite classic trends for fall. The mix of deep reds and hunter greens in a tartan pattern is one I love when paired with jeans and a vest. With this timeless trend floating in my head, I'm dreaming of transitioning it to the party. Imagine an ivory cloth, a plaid linen napkin, and an array of candles tied with pieces of plaid. It all sounds like the perfect fall themed dinner party to me!

Color Me {Hunter}

The fall is filled with shades of reds, oranges, and yellows. But, my favorite colors for the season are those that can't be found outdoors. Last week I featured eggplant, and today I want to talk about a hue that will pair beautifully with it, hunter green. This deep shade of green reminds me of preppy tartan and traditional living spaces. However, when paired with eggplant and cream, it's modern and beautiful!

Color Me {Botanical}

There's something to be said about a gathering amongst the lush green of a garden. If you are anything like me, just being outside soaking up the sun and the beauty of mother nature instantly puts you in a better mood. What's even better is the allure of a botanical garden. The succulent natural feel of the garden makes for a charming backdrop to any affair. Whether it be a wedding, milestone birthday, or any other type of celebration, you can't go wrong. Can't take the party to the park? Bring the outside in by incorporating natural elements into your decor. Ivy vines, flowing blossoms, and bright buds are the ticket. Keep things neutral with a pop of color. Think greens and whites with touches of purples or pinks. Opt for more natural looking flowers staying clear of formal blooms like roses. With an event like this, overabundance is key. You want guests to feel like they have stepped outside and are enjoying an evening under the stars surrounded by some of the most beautiful surroundings.

Lusting After {Succulents}

Forget the gorgeous huge buds, the latest trend, and my latest lust, is succulents. Whether in a small pot or tucked into a colorful bouquet, succulents add a green earthy element to the party. Plus, their easy care makes them the perfect plant for non-green thumbs like myself. I love the idea of grouping together different succulents in varying sized pots for a natural looking centerpiece. Want to use bright blooms in the middle of your tables? Incorporate individually planted ones in all the nooks and crannies of your venue.

Color Me {Tropical}

Hi sweets! Hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. I am off this week for a much needed vacation in the Bahamas. Feeling inspired today by my tropical destination, I'm lacing this post with the many shades of the Sea of Abaco. From light turquoise to deep blue to clear shades of green, the color combo is one that instantly relaxes me. Color Me {Avocado}

Hi there! Welcome back and happy Monday. I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend and enjoyed celebrating Dad. I spent the weekend catching up on chores and getting ready to go on vacation next week. However, I did manage to take a little time to flip through the latest issue of Rachael Ray Magazine. Each month, she gets me excited about cooking and food in general. This issue, she has me lusting after avocados. But not just their yummy flavor and many health benefits have me lusting, I can't stop staring at their vibrant color. This bright shade of green is eye catching, beautiful and has me using it every chance I get. Whether it be in food, centerpieces or natural elements, this delicious shade has me green with excitement!

Lusting After {Palm Fronds}

If you are blessed enough to live in, or be from, the Sunshine State, you can relate to my obsession with palm frond accents. Whether as decor for your home or soiree, their vibrant green hue brings a sense of the tropical outdoors in. Right now I'm lusting after the idea of removing the stem and using the frond as a placemat or charger. This inexpensive, chic table accent is just what my summer loving heart is craving. Another great option is to use them as a bold accent in an oversized vase. I know I've got one turquoise vintage rum carboy that is in need of the bright whisping leaves of a palm. If planning a tropical bash this summer, try using them as an oversized centerpiece on a few tables. It's bold, eye catching and something your guests are sure not to forget. 

I could talk all day about the possibilities for these luscious beauties, but I believe I will just leave the rest up to your creative imagination. No matter indoors or out, palm fronds add the right amount of natural beauty, bright color, and island vibe! 

Kiss Me...I'm Irish

No really, I am! But, no worries, you don't have to kiss me. But, you do have to help me celebrate in mean green style. One of our family traditions on St. Patrick's Day is to enjoy a meal of corned beef and cabbage and to make up our own Irish prayer. They all get written in a book of Irish prayers we picked up on our family trip to Ireland. It's so much fun to read back through them and see what we have written through the years. While I won't be with my family this year, I still plan on celebrating in style. Decked in green jeans, I'll sport a shamrock on my sweater and indulge in Irish treats. While I'm not a fan of Guinness, I will take a glass of Irish whisky. Not a fan of traditional Irish fare? Not a problem. Put a few drops of green food coloring into drinks and food and make all the other indulgences green with envy.

Color Me {Mint}

Happy Monday dolls! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. It's been rather cold here which has left me hoping and wishing for spring time temperatures. And with spring time comes bright colors everywhere. One of my favorites is mint. I love it's beautiful, refreshing combination of blue and green. This shade leaves me longing for an outdoor lunch with friends filled with good food and good laughs. Snacking on caprese salads and french macaroons, the tables would be overflowing with bright eclectic flowers perched atop a patterned mint table cloth. For an added punch, drop a bit of blue and green food coloring into cocktails to freshen up your sips. Better yet, encourage guests to dress in their favorite springy hues to brighten the mood!

This Week I Feel...Joyful

It is officially Christmas season! I hope you all had a delightful Thanksgiving and didn't stuff yourself too much. I know I really tried not to. But now it's time to move on from all the turkey, and begin decking the halls. And, if you are anything like me, you are struggling with how to decorate. Now, I have my staple decorations that go up every year, but other than that, I flutter between going glitz or traditional. Well this week, I'm settled on traditional. And don't get me wrong, it could easily change. But, right now I'm loving the traditional red and green.  I love tartan accents and strands of cranberries on the tree. I've even already brought the outside in by spray painting some pine cones silver. I love how homey and comfy my house feels when there is a pine tree scent and green garland wrapped on the banister. But no matter what I chose, there will definitely be mistletoe hanging in the entry way!
