The Fourth of July is just over a week away and it's time to start prepping your menu. As you consider whether to BBQ chicken or grill burgers, one item is a must, watermelon. This all-American treat helps keep things cool on a hot summer day, but eating slices and having a seed spitting contest is over. Puree to fruit to get out all the flavorful juices and use it as a mixer. This light, refreshing beverage is worthy of becoming summer's signature cocktail. Here's the mix up...
:: Ingredients ::
8 Cups Cubed Watermelon
2 Limes, Juiced
6 Tablespoons Honey or Agave Nectar
Gin
:: Directions ::
1. In a blender, puree 8 cups of watermelon. Strain through mesh strainer into a pitcher.
2. Add juice of 2 limes and honey. Stir to combine.
3. In a glass over ice, add 1 part Gin, 2 parts watermelon juice and garnish with lime slices.
Cheers!
