Party DIY {Confetti Thrower}

Does anybody watch Live with Kelly and Michael? Yes? Great! If you do, then you have seen the new toys they have when they do Travel Trivia. Each day, Kelly and Michael pick up these brown stick looking items and toss confetti into the crowd at the start of the segment. Ever since I saw them use it for the first time, I've been dying to make one of my own. Because, let's be honest, who doesn't want to own a confetti thrower? It's pretty awesome, and, if you ask me, makes a great addition to any gathering. Use them as you are making your grand entrance or exit from your wedding, as you are blowing out the candles on your birthday cake, or because you're happy it's Friday. The uses for a confetti thrower are really endless. They are simple to make and easily customizable to the theme of any event. All you need is a toilet paper roll, tissue paper, wrapping paper, scissors, glue, and some of your homemade confetti. That's it! From there all you need to do is cap, fill, wrap, and throw. Here's the step-by-step on making your own...

:: Supplies ::
Toilet Paper Roll
(2) 4x4 Squares Tissue Paper
Wrapping Paper of Choice
1/2 Cup Homemade Confetti
Scissors
Exacto Knife
Glue

:: Directions ::
1. Cut a single sheet of tissue paper into a 4x4 square. Cover one end of the tissue paper roll and glue down.
2. Via the open end of the tissue paper roll, fill the thrower with confetti.
3. Take the second square of tissue paper and cover the open end of the roll. Using the exacto knife, pierce a small "x" in the center of the tissue paper on one end only.
4. Wrap the thrower with wrapping paper of choice and glue to hold in place.
5. Toss confetti out of "x" end of thrower!

Party DIY {DIY Valentines}

Valentine's D'ay is right around the corner and its time to start thinking about how we are going to show the special people in our lives how much we care. You can always send flowers or boxes of chocolate. You can even enjoy a romantic dinner. But, if you ask me the way to really show someone you care is with a handmade valentine. By making a Valentines card yourself, you give off big impact at half the price. Plus they are so fun to customize! Here's what you need to make your own heartfelt note.

:: Supplies ::
White 4 x 6 Card and Envelope
Washi Tape
Pink Marker
Ruler
Elmer's Glue
Glitter
Pencil

:: Directions ::
1. Begin by taping off the edges of your envelope with washi tape forming a border.
2. Place your ruler against the outside edge of the card to help form a straight line. Trace the front edges of the card with your pink marker.
3. On the front of the card, trace the word you wish to adorn with glitter in pencil.
4. Trace the word with glue and sprinkle with glitter. Shake off excess.
5. Let dry, write a sweet little message, and send!

Party DIY {Glittered Mason Jars}

I'm sure your New Year's plans are slowly coming together like mine. If you're hosting the big countdown this year, I bet you are thinking of all the ways you can make your party stand out from all the rest. Well, like I always say, the best way to take your soiree to the next level is with a few handmade touches. I'll be sharing some fun DIY party hats and a delicious champagne cocktail next week on La Petite Fashionista, but for now I want to show you a glitzy yet down home DIY. These glitter dipped mason jars are perfect as vases, drinking glasses, or even candle holders. Here's how to make your own!

:: Supplies ::
Mason Jars
Elmer's Glue
Painter's Tape
Glitter
Sponge Brush

:: Directions ::
1. Using the painter's tape, wrap a piece of tape around the center of the mason jar.
2. Paint the glue onto the bottom half of the glass with your sponge brush.
3. Roll in glitter. Remove tape and let dry.
4. Once jar is dry, brush off excess glitter. Fill as you please and decorate!
